IndiaTomorrow.net,
Ayodhya, July 21: Hashim Ansari died at the age of 96 here on Wednesday morning. He was ill for a long time. He was the first to approach the court for restoration of Babri Masjid in the year 1949. He was then just 28 years old. He had since been associated with the long (still ongoing) legal battle for the mosque.

Thousands of people took part in his funeral prayers here yesterday. Besides ministers, MLAs and Muslim religious leaders, eminent Hindu priests also visited his home, hardly a km from Babri site, and offered condolences.
