New Delhi, 15 Aug 2015: Today our Free India turned 68 as we celebrated 69th Independence Day. In the long journey of 68 years, we as a nation have immensely added to our pride and power while carrying the monuments of pride of Mughal and British eras. But as we feel proud of India today, we also sometimes feel pain for sad state of political and social affairs. In this short newsroom video chat, IndiaTomorrow.net Editor Mumtaz Alam and political science research scholar of Jamia Millia Islamia Khalid Jaleel talk about the pride and pain of India today.

The Newsroom Chat moves around three questions:
What makes you feel proud of India today?
What worries you about India today?
What will you do to make India better?

Summary of Khalid Jaleel’s take:
“As an Indian, I am proud to be a part of the world’s most culturally, ideologically and ethnically diverse nation; a nation of people who respect and celebrate this unique diversity. While on the same hand, what worries me is the rise of the cultural fascists who wish to do away and suppress this nation’s prized plurality. In such a situation, it becomes the duty of all patriotic citizens to stand guard and protect the very ideals that define our Indian nationality.”
