IndiaTomorrow.net,
New Delhi, May 22: With frightening details of Jharkhand’s mob lynching appearing in media, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Monday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to break his silence and answer why the states ruled by his party BJP are descending into chaos.

“From Rajasthan to Uttar Pradesh, Haryana & now Jharkhand — BJP ruled states are descending into chaos & lawlessness. Will the PM answer,” asked Rahul in a tweet Monday morning.

On Thursday (18th May), seven innocent people – four Muslims and three Hindus – were lynched by mobs in BJP-ruled Jharkhand on suspicion of them being child lifter. The state police have now said a rumour about child theft was spread on Whatsapp groups in Jamshdepur and Singhbum district.

In April, four Muslim dairy farmers from Haryana were brutally assaulted in Alwar district of Rajasthan – also ruled by BJP. One of them, Pahlu Khan, 50, succumbed to injuries.

Earlier this month, an elderly Muslim named Ghulam Mohammad was lynched in Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh – India’s most populated state being ruled by BJP’s firebrand leader Yogi Adityanath for two months – over suspicion that he protected an interfaith couple.

In the last two months, Uttar Pradesh has witnessed sharp rise in crime. Saharanpur district alone has seen several violent incidents.

Soon after Rahul’s attack on PM Modi Monday morning, hashtag #LynchMobSarkar began trending on Twitter.
