New Delhi, April 23: Scores of Tamil students studying at different colleges and universities in Delhi and came out on the street on Sunday in support of the farmers from their state protesting in the National Capital for past one and half months.

What apparently provoked the students and other professionals from Tamil Nadu to hold protest demonstration was the Saturday protest of the 100-odd farmers who drank urine to stress their demand for loan waiver and drought-relief fund from the central government.

50-60 youths from Tamil Nadu, either studying or doing job in Delhi, took out the march from India Gate to Jantar Mantar but they were detained at India Gate as Section 144 of CrPC is in place in the area. The Police released them at a place away from India Gate and from there they continued march to Jantar Mantar in solidarity with the farmers.

Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu K. Palaniswami also rushed to Delhi Sunday morning and met the protesting farmers. He reportedly assured them of taking up their case to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
