Person Becoming Party

New Delhi, 09 Sep 2014: Never had in its 30-year history Bharatiya Janata Party been so submissive to one person as it is today. Even at the prime time of Atal Bihari Vajpayee – who commanded far more respect and reach than any leader of the saffron party today – there were some other stalwarts in the party whose voice were heard within and outside. No more.

Narendra Modi, who led BJP to historic thumping victory in the Lok Sabha elections 2014 and subsequently became Prime Minister of the country, has almost taken over the entire party. Seniors of the party – Vajpayee, LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi – have been shunted out of government affairs. Modi’s close aid Amit Shah is now chief of the party. The rest have received ‘gag’ orders.

Modi is BJP. BJP is Modi.

But can he be blamed alone? No. Because he did what he saw and learnt from Congress which has revolved around Sonia Gandhi for around two decades.

Not good sign for democracy and democratic party or parties.
