On Babri Masjid Demolition Anniversary, Hundreds March in Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 6: On the 26th anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition, hundreds of people took out a peaceful protest demonstration here on Thursday. The march started from Mandi House area and proceeded towards the Parliament House but it culminated into a public gathering at the Parliament Street.

Speakers demanded action against those responsible for the conspiracy and demolition of the mosque and subsequent communal riots. The 16th century Babri Masjid was razed to ground by a Hindutva mob in Ayodhya town of Uttar Pradesh on 6th December 1992 even though the Supreme Court had asked the state government to maintain status quo.

Today’s protest demonstration was jointly organized by dozens of organizations including Lok Raj Sangathan, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Welfare Party of India, Socialist Party of India, CPI-ML, Sikh Forum, Citizens for Democracy, United Against Hate, Students Islamic Organisation of India and others.

Those who addressed the gathering included Lok Raj Sangathan president S Raghavan, Intezar Naeem, Assistant Secretary, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, SQR Ilyas, president, Welfare Party of India, Mehdi Hasan Qasmi from United Against Hate, Prakash Rao, KK Singh and others.
