New Delhi/Kanpur, 03 March 2014: Sharpening his attack on communal politics of Bharatiya Janata Party, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former chief minister of Delhi on Sunday said his Lord Rama can’t live in a temple which is built after demolishing a mosque. He was referring to makeshift Ram Temple built on the debris of Babri Masjid which was demolished by a huge mob of Hindu extremists in 1992 in Ayodhya town of Uttar Pradesh.

“Mera Ram kisi ki masjid todkar banaye Mandir mein nahi bas sakta” (My Rama can’t live in a temple built after demolishing a mosque), said Kejriwal while addressing a party rally in the Kanpur city of Uttar Pradesh.

“Secularism is in the foundation of our country. We must get united against all forces which are trying to create a communal divide within our nation,” he further said.

BJP’s senior leader LK Advani and other leaders of Sangh Parivar had led a nationwide campaign to build Ram Temple at the same place where the 16th century Babri mosque stood. While the title suit related to the land of Babri Masjid was pending in court tens of thousands of people affiliated to Sangh Parivar gathered in Ayodhya on 06 Dec 1992 and brought down the mosque. And within hours, they erected a makeshift temple on the debris of the mosque. The title suit though was disposed by Allahabad High Cout two years back has been moved to the Supreme Court of India.

Kejriwal’s AAP had made debut in the Delhi assembly elections held in December 2013 and won, surprising all, 28 seats and pushed the ruling Congress to No. 3. Kejriwal formed the government but resigned on 49th day of his government when his first promise to enact a Jan Lokpal Bill remained unfulfilled due to both political and technical reasons.
