Muslim organization sends legal notice to Times Now over conversion story
New Delhi, August 1: The Popular Front of India has sent a legal notice to the Times Now TV channel for baselessly linking it with conversion. PFI said the document based on which the channel did a prime time show on 23rd June is fake and has been in circulation on social media since 2011.
"The entire news report tells about the concocted story of religious conversion which was based on a fake document. Referring to this baseless document, the news channel linked the organization with the story. The document with a "rate card for religious conversion" displayed in the news report is not a new one...it has been circulating through online portals and social media since 2011," the PFI said in a statement.
"Popular Front has already lodged several complaints to the police against the said fabricated rate card a few years ago," it added.
The channel had also published the story on its online portal under the heading of "Upfront India: How was a conversion factory allowed to thrive in a State".
