IndiaTomorrow.net,
New Delhi, Feb 6: While expressing scepticism over the recent “blanket arrests” of Muslim youths on charges of terrorism, a prominent Muslim organization on Saturday demanded the government to release “all those Muslim youth who have been arrested without any solid evidence and incarcerated merely on the basis of suspicion”.

Addressing a press conference here at their headquarters, leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind said that all Muslim social and religious bodies including Jamaat have already declared ISIS a terrorist organization, so there is no possibility of any Indian Muslim youth to have any connection with the group which is active in the Middle East. Jamaat leaders said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh have also unequivocally declared that ISIS does not have any existence in India and Indian Muslims would never fall prey to ISIS propaganda.

Commenting on the recent arrest of Muslim youths in India in connection with ISIS, Nusrat Ali, Vice President of Jamaat said his organization “firmly believes that these Muslim youth have been framed unjustly and would be later acquitted by the courts” in the same manner as many Muslim youth were earlier arrested but acquitted after spending years behind bars.

Jamaat leaders also appealed to the media “not to pronounce anyone to be a terrorist merely on the basis of statements by the intelligence agencies”.

Talking to pressmen, Jamaat’s Secretary General Mohammad Salim Engineer announced that top leaders of all major Muslim organizations are going to hold a press conference over the issue on 8th Feb at Press Club of India in New Delhi.

Jamaat leaders also expressed sympathy with family of Dalit research scholar Rohith Vemula who committed suicide at Hyderabad University in mid January this year.
