IndiaTomorrow.net,
Bhopal, Sep 11: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) on Sunday announced to launch nationwide community reform programmes to educate Muslim men and women about Shariah. The Executive Committee of the Board took the decision after daylong discussion over the recent Supreme Court judgement against instant Triple Talaq. The Board also announced to set up a committee to chalk out community reform programs and also examine the SC judgment to see the inconsistencies, if any, with Shariah.

While respecting the SC order that declared instant Triple Talaq invalid, the Board reiterated that Triple Talaq or Talaq-e-Biddat has basis in Shariah and Board itself had taken up several initiatives to discourage the practice in the community.

“The Board records its commitment to carry forward our Community reform programmes on larger scale. The Board has also resolved to initiate different programmes at different level to educate Muslim women and Muslim men about Shariah and in this process it shall take assistance from different organizations,” said AIMPLB after the Executive Committee meeting here Sunday evening.

“The Board shall always stand for protection of rights of Muslim women within Shariah.”

“The Board has also resolved to take appropriate steps to ensure help to divorced ladies.”

“The Board shall also urge upon the government to gran financial assistance to Wakf Boards for this purpose.”
The AIMPLB has decided to constitute a committee to advise the methods and process for undertaking large scale community reform program within the Islamic Shariah (Islah-e-Mashrah). The committee shall also examine the judgment to see the inconsistencies, if any, with Shariah.

The Muslim Personal Law Board strongly condemned the move of the present central government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare all forms of divorce in the Muslim community as unconstitutional.

“The government had laid bare its intention in the form of the Attorney General’s submissions in the Hon’ble Supreme Court that all forms of dissolution of marriage without intervention of the court should be declared as unconstitutional. We record our displeasure and consider it as attack on personal law of Muslims,” said the Board and declared that the Muslim community will never accept attack on the Muslim personal law.

“This stand of the present government is contrary to the protection guaranteed by the Constitution of India. We make categorical statement that the Community cannot and shall not tolerate such attack on personal law of Muslim community,” said the Board.

The Board meeting was presided over by its president Maulana Rabey Hadani Nadwi and attended by all vice presidents of the Board including Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari and Maulan Kalbe Sadiq besides Executive Committee members including Kamal Farooqui, Nusrat Ali, Maulana Mahmood Madani, Asaduddin Owaisi and Dr SQR Ilyas.
