Ahmedabad, 28 March 2015: Eminent Gujarat businessman and close aide of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Zafar Sareshwala, has immediately responded to an Open Letter written by a Gujarati Muslim to him. The letter writer had questioned the alleged move of Sareshwala to represent Muslims. Minutes after the letter was published on IndiaTomorrow.net, Sareshwala, who is also Chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University, said: “I have never claimed I represent all Muslims…”

“This letter is about asking you that who has franchised you to lend their voices. Are they the ones from Naroda Patiya or Sardarpura or from all those places in Gujarat who lost everything in a matter of few hours?…” the letter had asked.

Sareshwala tweeted, responding to the losses of Muslims during Gujarat riots as highlighted in the letter, that “also me and my family also had suffered huge financially.”

On his efforts for dialogue between Muslims and the present BJP government at the centre, he said: “@ITN_media @Muslims_India I’ve only said we need to always have a process of dialogue in place with all stakeholders & ItShldIncldAllOfUsTgthr.”
