New Delhi, Dec 13: Hitting back to the BJP president Amit Shah, who accused SDPI (Social Democratic Party of India) and PFI (Popular Front of India) of indulging in anti-national activities, the SDPI said that BJP is making false allegations as SDPI has extended support to Dalit leader Jignesh Mewani in Gujarat assembly polls.

“The rise of SDPI shocked BJP. BJP is offended as we have sopported Jignesh Mevani who has risen as hope for Dalits and oppressed classes,” Adv. Sharfuddin Ahmad SDPI, national vice president said while addressing media at Press Club of India, New Delhi on Tuesday.

Taking a jibe at Shah’s allegation, Ahmad said, “This is like ‘Chor ki dadi me tinka’ because their own man named Dhuruv Saxena was arrested for links with ISI. We all know Amit Shah has grabbed Rs 500 crore and how his son Jay Shah has commited a scam and become Crorepati. Since we are developing as big political alternative so BJP is scared.”

“Yes, we have given Rs 1 lac to Jignesh Mevani as he is fighting for equality. We will fight this battle politically. We have appealed to people for not splitting secular votes,” he added.

Muhammed Shafi, general secretary of SDPI said, “BJP has been exposed in Panama & Paradise papers leaks and is making baseless allegations against us. Since our party is fighting for equal rights for the oppressed; it is a problem for them.”

“Jignesh Mevani is going to win with a huge margin. Now BJP cannot the people fool anymore. BJP will be defeated in Gujarat as well as in 2019 general elections,” he predicted.

During a press conference on Sunday in Ahemdabad, Amit Shah said that SDPI had funded Dalit Leader Jignesh Mevani, while accusing SDPI as a political arm of PFI which allegedly indulges in anti-national activities. Shah also attacked Congress-backed independent candidate from Vadgam in Banaskantha district, Jignesh Mewani, for accepting money from SDPI.

First phase of Assembly elections in Gujarat for 89 seats concluded on Saturday while the second phase of voting for the remaining 93 assembly seats will take place on December 14. The votes will be counted on December 18 for all 182 seats.
