Father-Son Assaulted Allegedly by BSF Jawans over Beef in Bengal, Police Case Lodged

Kolkata, May 7— Two persons were allegedly assaulted by a team of BSF jawans in Siliguri of West Bengal for allegedly carrying beef. A case has been registered with the local police against the BSF jawans.

According to a report in the UNI news agency, the incident took place at Sripur market near the Indo-Bangladesh border, 100 kms from Siliguri town.

In the complaint lodged by one Tamizuddin, his 62-year-old brother and his 26-year-old son Anwarul were beaten up by some jawans of 171 battalion of BSF deployed at Sripur BOP.

In the last 5 years, dozens of incidents of mob violence and mob lynching have taken place in the name of beef, cow smuggling and cow slaughter. Most of the incidents took place in BJP-ruled states in which more than 50 people were killed.
