New Delhi, March 22: Hours after a section of media on Tuesday flashed a story linking missing JNU student Najeeb Ahmed with terror outfit ISIS, the Delhi came up rubbishing all such reports. Dependra Pathak, spokesperson of Delhi Police, said the investigation into the case of Najeeb has not found any link to ISIS.
The Times of India and some other newspapers had run the story claiming that a forensic analysis of Najeeb’s laptop had found he was browsing information on how to join the extremist group ISSI a day before he went missing (15 Oct 2016).
The English daily also claimed that Delhi Police have submitted a report in the Delhi High Court stating that Najeeb watched several ISIS-related videos on his laptop and was looking up information on the militant organisation’s ideology and executions.
Rubbishing the report, the Delhi Police said it has not found any such logs from his computer and no such has been submitted to the Delhi High Court.
“We saw a report in the media claiming that Google and YouTube had indicated that Najeeb was listening to a speech by an IS member a day before he went missing and he may be associated with the organisation. The police has not received any such report. Any association with the ISIS has not come up in Delhi Police’s investigation so far” Pathak was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
