New Delhi, 22 Nov 2014: Three days before Jammu and Kashmir cast vote in first phase of the assembly elections, an umbrella body of Muslim organizations of the country has appealed to people of the state to “establish unity and vote wisely to defeat communal forces.”

The Delhi-based All India Muslim Majlise Mushawarat on Saturday said the coming assembly polls in the state would be “historic as it would redefine state politics for several years to come.”

“People should show wisdom and foresight and establish unity among them. They should defeat communal forces otherwise they will have to regret for several years to come,” Dr. Zafarul Islam Khan, President of AIMMM said in a media statement.

Without mentioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party or any other political party, Dr. Khan alleged that “communal forces deceitfully and fraudulently want to alter the status and special identity of the state after getting majority in the state.”

He further appealed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to be careful of “fake clerics and their organizations which are out to misguide them.”

Along with Jharkhand state, Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in five phases – 25 Nov, 2 Dec, 9 Dec, 14 Dec and 20 Dec. The counting of votes in both states will be held on 23 Dec.
