Day after the apex court order, BSP of Mayawati had issued list of its candidates and mentioned their religion and castes.
IndiaTomorrow.net,
Lucknow, Jan 30: Are political parties really respecting the January 3 order of the Supreme Court against seeking votes in the name of religion, caste or language – it is an open question for all to find answer.

On 4th Jan, just day after the apex court verdict, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati while releasing the list of party candidates clearly mentioned religion and castes of the candidates. She announced that her party will field 97 Muslims along with 113 candidates from upper castes, 106 candidates from backward castes and 87 Dalits in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Many observers saw it as violation of at least the spirit of the apex court order.

But now, BJP has gone much ahead and announced to build Ram Mandir.

Releasing the manifesto, party chief Amit Shah in Lucknow pledged to work towards the construction of Ram Temple “under the provisions of the Constitution.” The party has included Ram Mandir as one of promises in the party manifesto.

A makeshift Ram temple was erected in Ayodhya after demolishing Babri Masjid on 6th Dec 1992. The title suit of the mosque is pending in the court for past six decades. The case is currently with the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, reports say the party is fast moving out to play Hindutva card openly as less than two weeks are left before the Phase 1 of UP polls.
